Good morning, all
I trust you are all well. I just wanted to update you on the progress of the Steering Group that is meeting ahead of our June Circuit Meeting.
The first thing to say is we recognise the trajectory of our finances has, for too long, been heading in the wrong direction at an alarming rate. We are conducting an urgent review into how this might be addressed. Whilst we appreciate and respect the challenges of life as it is today, we wonder if our congregations might also review their Gift Aid, Standing Orders, and offertory contributions? Increasing local church giving allows the church to make a greater contribution to the Circuit and supports the work amongst all our communities.
The second consideration is how we create a sustainable Circuit, going forward. We wonder if, as you meet together, you might give some thought to the following questions:
Alongside Worship Centres, it is important that we retain a Methodist presence in our local communities. Small group discipleship has always been part of our Methodist DNA, and we would look to establish such a network across our Circuit.
If you can consider these issues, both prayerfully and in conversation with one another, and if you have any thoughts, please feed them back through the Circuit Office.
Change can be challenging, but it is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to God’s mission. Trusting in God’s guidance, may we move forward together with courage, faith, and love.
Every blessing,
Rev Mark Carrick
