The Memory Cafe at Central is a group aiming to support people living with Dementia and their families. Meeting on the first Wednesday of each month, the group enjoys themed sessions and a variety of activities. These include music, singing, reminiscence, word games, ball games, poems, crafts and more.
Faith is shared within the group as they enjoy chatting and singing hymns, whilst celebrating Christian days throughout the calendar. A recent theme was 'Wonder and Wonderful Things',looking at things that amaze and bring joy. During the session, the group started to make a peacock, with their hands making up its feathers. Each person wrote words that inspire them, either from their favourite hymn or a bible passage.
There is no charge for anyone wishing to join the group. Refreshments are always provided, too! To book a place, please contact our Circuit Pastoral Worker, Alyson Franks.
Lisa Byrne, our local Alzheimer's Society Dementia Support Worker, also has space at Central for regular drop-in sessions whilst the main group meets in the Cornerstone lounge. Lisa is available to answer any questions or concerns about living with Dementia.
