In 2021 the Methodist Conference passed a series of resolutions relating to the Methodist Church's understanding of marriage, including resolutions consenting in principle to the marriage of same-sex couples on Methodist premises and enabling trustees of Methodist premises to register their buildings for that purpose.
Since then, the following Methodist churches in the Derbyshire North East Circuit have voted to register their buildings, or are in the process of doing so:
