Christmas may just have ended, yet already thoughts will turn towards Lent and then Easter.
Lent begins in a month's time, on Wednesday, February 18th, and runs until Thursday, April 2nd. Our discussions, at a strategic level, are currently focusing on Small Group Discipleship and Lent offers us the perfect opportunity to meet in Fellowship Groups to explore a theme or study. This year, the Circuit will be offering resources for groups to explore together over the six weeks.
Life on the Frontline explores our frontline – the place where we spend much of our time; where we meet people who don’t know Jesus. It’s the place to which God has called us and put us; the place of possibility and potential. Often though, we don’t see our frontlines in this light. This course helps us to imagine what impact we might have on our neighbourhoods, workplaces, and communities as God works through us, right where we are.
Life on the Frontline helps us to discover our own frontlines with the help of others in our small groups. This six-session video-based series combines a short video, discussion material, Bible teaching, and real-life stories of people who live their lives for Christ on their frontlines.
If you are a Housegroup leader and would like to receive the Frontline Lent material, please contact the Circuit Office.
If you are not in a Housegroup, but would like to join one locally, again, please let the Office know and we can put you in touch with the relevant leaders.
We then enter Holy Week on Sunday, March 29th, as we prepare for Easter Sunday on April 5th. For many churches, we have established patterns of reflecting on the events of the week, be that through a Mon-Fri rhythm, or coming together for Maundy Thursday or a Good Friday service.
This year, as a Circuit, we would love to offer an opportunity to come together as the disciples of Christ and work through this Holy Week. Already we have an outline plan for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday that enables us to meet at various locations, but if your church would like to offer the space for a reflective evening service, please contact the Circuit Office. We will finalise a program of events over the next couple of weeks.
God bless,
Rev Mark Carrick
