Jonathan Hood

Community Pioneer Worker

Jonathan is employed as a community Pioneer in the Barrow Hill and Rother Ward area. His role is part of the New Places for New People project in the Methodist Church and is not connected to a specific Church. Jonathan is looking to work in these two communities, building relationships, showing the love of God and looking at developing new ways of being Church for new people in new places.

Jonathan studied to be a Local Preacher when he was 18 years old and went to Sheffield Hallam University to complete a Sports degree. He has worked in secondary education and in the Methodist Church as a family worker, lay worker and evangelist. Jonathan has a passion for teaching, preaching and sharing the good news of Jesus in different ways for different ages and contexts. He has lots of experience at leading worship in schools and for all age ministry.

Jonathan lives in Barnsley with his wife Sharron and their three children, Jessica, Isabelle and Noah. Jonathan enjoys his sports and used to play a lot of cricket and rugby and is a big Sheffield Wednesday fan. In his spare time he enjoys going out running and taking family trips to the beach.
