new brimington church

Visitors to New Brimington Methodist Church may be sure of a friendly welcome!

The present building, which dates from 1881, was established in New Brimington, a development to house the workforce of Staveley Coal and Iron Works. The Schoolroom was added in 1904 and the spacious hall in 1969.

More information about the history of the church can be found here.

The church straddles the border between New Brimington and Hollingwood where many of the present congregation live. The neighbourhood is undergoing much change now; around 900 homes, a new school and a marina are at the planning stage.

The church maintains a strong connection with the local Hollingwood Primary School.

Members of the congregation at New Brimington currently support a Kenyan student though Compassion, a Christian charity which seeks to alleviate poverty among children and young people. You can find out more about them here. Or see New Brimington's Facebook page.

A mixed congregation of all ages enjoys traditional and modern worship. There is a regular church newsletter to keep everyone in touch. Those who cannot get to church at the moment receive printed service material delivered to their homes.

The church hall is an invaluable community facility as well as providing a safe Covid-19 Secure space for worship each Sunday at 11.00 am. For more information on church services during the current restrictions and how to book a place, please see the Circuit Worship Plan or go to the Service Search page.
