Methodists belong to local churches or ecumenical partnerships, but also feel part of a larger connected community, the Connexion.
This sense of being connected makes a difference to how the Methodist Church as a whole is structured. At its heart is an understanding of the Christian community as the 'body of Christ'. Just as a human body contains different limbs and organs that depend on each other, so we should be close and caring enough to feel each other's pain and delight. We should put the good of the whole body before our own individual needs.
Each day we will provide a number of items as a focus for prayer. These could be related to the Derbyshire North East Circuit, Sheffield Methodist District (of which we are a part) or the wider Methodist Connexion around Britain and the rest of the world. You are invited to use this page each day as part of your personal devotional and prayer time.
SHEFFIELD METHODIST DISTRICT – Peak Circuit: Ministers, churches and ecumenical partners.
DERBYSHIRE NORTH EAST METHODIST CIRCUIT – Pray for the development and full implementation of our own Circuit Mission Policy which is based on 'Our Calling' and which emphasises (a) being a Learning Circuit, (b) following the Methodist Way of Life, & (c) embodying the national Evangelism and Growth Strategy, 'God For All', & (d) caring for creation. In addition to these emphases we identified in the coming together of the two previous Circuits, at the moment we are discerning a need to respond to (i.) matters pertaining to all aspects of Mental Health, (ii.) responding to the humanitarian crisis created by the war in Ukraine, & (iii.) responding to the cost of living crisis and fuel costs in our own country.
