Welcome to Brimington Common Methodist Church.

The Methodist Church in Brimington Common opened in 1867.

It is one of three Methodist Churches serving the large village of Brimington, which is one of the largest villages in the county of Derbyshire. The Common is a beautiful part of the village, with views extending over to the hills in the west and over a wide area to the east, from certain points along Manor Road – the very busy road running along the ridge, which is often taken by people travelling to and from the nearby Royal Hospital. The Church is situated close to the village of Calow. It is a more rural part of Brimington, with farms, farmland and woodland close by. The village school is linked to a school in Nottingham for this reason.

In September the Church had re-opened for morning services at 10:15am, but these have now had to be suspended with the National lockdown.

Bible Study and Prayer Meetings had resumed on successive Thursday's, but these have also now had to stop for the present.

Sadly the popular Saturday Coffee morning and "Messy Church," regularly held during the school holidays, have not been possible since the pandemic took effect in the early Spring. The last "Messy Church" was on 19th February.

The Church has a Sisterhood Meeting, which has also not been able to meet.

The Staveley and District United Churches Choir have not been able to meet either, having moved quite recently from the Congregational Church.

Brimington Common works closely with The Manor Infant School, just across the road. The school have made good use of the hall in the past, as the school has not got a hall of its own. This means that P.E. lessons have often been at Church and large gatherings, when a hall is needed. The school also uses the Church car park.

Recently, the school has continued to use the Church hall for its Breakfast Club. The Church hall has also been used by Slimming World.

Other community groups use the hall, including a Zumba group, and charitable organisations for fund raising efforts. Shortly before the lockdown in the Spring, a Jumble and Bric a Brac Fund Raiser was very successful in raising money for the Ruu Rumwe School in Namibia.

The Church continues to keep in touch with members and friends via post and email, sending out information and service material to use at home.
