Methodist Churches across Chesterfield, Bolsover and nearby parts of Derbyshire have joined to form a brand-new church body. The Derbyshire North East Methodist Circuit was created on 1st September 2020 to bring together sixteen churches serving communities across the area. The reorganisation, which is the most significant for local Methodist Churches in many years, will enable churches to relate more effectively to their communities. The new Circuit has a team of five ministers assisted by several lay workers. Superintendent minister Rev Sean Adair, who leads the new Circuit, said “This is an opportunity for local churches to press the reset button; to look afresh at the needs of local people and at how people of faith can engage with and support their communities in fresh and relevant ways”.
